I am a month out of University, and have come to the decision that I am going to record and track my experiences of being out of University.
It is common knowledge that there are struggles when leaving university, whether you are looking for creative work, or experience problematic differences of full-time work from full-time education. This is why I have chosen to reflect on these experiences and hurdles that I may come across. I will however, discuss any up to date exhibitions, work I am making, who I am working with and also how I have done this.
I wanted to use this post, to share some of the websites I have used, to network with other creatives, find jobs and ask any valuable questions. Here are some really good resources for people in the same position as myself:
- Art Jobs has a lot of opportunities, across the UK, from open calls, to artistic roles in museums. http://www.artsjobs.org.uk/artsjobshome/
- The Dots have often been my go to social media site, you can find jobs from big companies such as: Conde Nast and Creative Recruitment sites, and can collaborate with many other creative professionals on the ask page. To enable yourself a reasonable amount of recognition it is advised that you post at least 3 different projects on your page. https://the-dots.com/today
- Prospects helps you understand, what roles you can access, dependant on your degree. https://www.prospects.ac.uk/
- Photographic Exploration Project (PEP) has an array of Open Calls to keep your eyes on. https://www.pep.photography/
- UAL Creative Opportunities displays internships, jobs and different opportunities. https://creativeopportunities.arts.ac.uk/findajob/all/photography/
- And the Associations of Photography has some opportunities for jobs also https://www.the-aop.org/shop/job-shop, not only this, but it is possible to explore different photographers, and collaborators.
